Ingredients
500ml unsweetened plant-based milk of choice (I prefer almond or oat milk, use lite coconut milk if you want a very rich hot chocolate)
3.5oz vegan dark chocolate (I like 85% or higher), chopped
40g maple syrup (optional)
30g cacao powder, sifted
1 tsp espresso powder*
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
Pinch of sea salt
Instructions
- Add the plant-based milk, chopped chocolate, maple syrup (optional), sifted cacao powder, espresso powder, vanilla extract and sea salt to a pot over medium-low heat.
- Keep on stirring until all the chocolate has melted and everything is well-combined. Simmer for about 5-8 minutes, until it thickens slightly.
- Pour into 2 mugs. Top with vegan whipped cream, marshmallows and more chopped chocolate if desired. Enjoy!
Notes
*The espresso powder provides a richer taste to the hot chocolate. If you don’t have it you can leave it out, but I highly recommend it!
